Who runs Edit

Edit is a product of Thela Labs, operated by Viral Chetan Joshi, trading as Thela Labs. This policy sits alongside the studio's own privacy policy and does not contradict it.

Your account

You sign in with an email link. There is no password. Your email address is held by our sign-in provider, Supabase, and a cookie keeps you signed in on that browser until you sign out. We never use your email for marketing.

What we store, and where

Everything you give the app: your name, age, gender, height, weight, body shape, skin tone and budget; any lifestyle details you add; the style signals worked out from your this-or-that answers; your Style Identity; your wardrobe and its photos; the front and side photos from onboarding; the looks the stylist has recommended to you; saved Pinterest pins; your feedback; and the timeline of changes to your profile. Your chat with the stylist, and any photo you send in it, is not saved: each visit starts a fresh conversation.

It lives in two places: in your own browser, and in our database, which is hosted by Supabase in Mumbai, India. Each account can only read and write its own rows. Signing in on another device restores your data there. Nothing is shared between accounts.

Your photos

The front and side photos from onboarding are used for two things: suggesting your body shape, and building your Style Identity. Photos you send in chat are used to answer that message and are not kept. Your photos are never shown to other users and never appear anywhere public. You can delete them from your Account page at any time.

The AI behind the stylist

Your Style Identity and the stylist's replies are generated by a third-party AI service provider. When those steps run, the relevant parts of your data go to that provider: your onboarding answers and photos when your body shape is suggested and again when your Style Identity is built, and your message, the earlier messages in that conversation, any photo attached to it, the relevant parts of your Style Identity and wardrobe, and the titles of any saved pins when you chat.

The provider processes that to produce a reply, under its own terms, and does not use your data to train its models. If our usual provider is unavailable, another AI service provider may handle the request instead, under the same conditions. We don't train any model on your data ourselves. When no AI provider is configured, a rule-based system produces your profile and replies, and nothing leaves our servers.

Weather and location

Today's Outfit can take the weather into account. To do that, your browser asks for permission to share your location, and your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo, a free weather service, to fetch the forecast. Your location is not saved to our database; the day's forecast is cached in your browser and nothing more. Decline the prompt and everything still works without weather.

Pinterest and shopping links

When you save a Pinterest link, our server fetches that pin's public page to get its title and thumbnail. The link, title and description are stored with the rest of your data.

“Outfit reference” links open a Pinterest search, and item links open a shopping search or a retailer such as Myntra or ASOS. These are plain links. We earn nothing from them today and add no affiliate tracking. If that changes, this page will say so.

Analytics and logs

We use Vercel Analytics to see how many people use the app and which pages they visit. It sets no cookies and is not tied to your name, email or style data. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for a limited time. To prevent abuse, we count requests to the AI features per IP address in memory, and count how many times each account uses them per day in our database. That daily count is deleted with your account.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data. We don't show ads or use ad-tracking pixels. We don't share your profile, photos or chat with anyone beyond the services named above, and each of them only sees what it needs for its part.

Children

Edit is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has signed up, tell us and we will delete the account.

Deleting your data

The Delete account button on your Account page removes your data from our database, deletes your account with the sign-in provider including your email address, and clears the browser you're using. It's permanent and takes effect immediately.

If you used Edit on another device, that device's copy is wiped the next time it signs in rather than restored, or you can clear its site data yourself. To make that work, we keep one thing after deletion: a one-way hash of your email address, from which the address itself can't be recovered.
